Monarch Butterflies
During the first three weeks in class we have had caterpillars munching on swan plants, chrysalis and butterflies hatching and flying away. We were lucky enough to see a couple of the caterpillars spin their chrysalis' and watch them hatch into butterflies.

Welcome back!
The Christmas holidays have come and gone and we have now just had the first three weeks of the new school year back!
Over the last three weeks we have been getting to know our new classmates and meeting our class pets.
On Day 1 we read the book "First Day Jitters" and "Fancy Nancy - Jojo's First Day Jitters" and talked about what jitters are and how we were feeling about starting in a new class.

Our furry feathered class visitor!
Today we had Savannah's chicken come and visit us in class. We thought she was cute and that her feathers were so soft to touch!

Planting Sunflowers
Today we read the story 'Jasper's Beanstalk' by Nick Butterworth and Mick Inkpen
Then we planted some sunflower seeds instead of beans - hopefully they will grow in time for the Christmas holidays and we can take them home to plant in our gardens.
Keep watching and we'll keep you posted on how our sunflowers are doing!

Discovery Time
On Friday we read the reading book 'The Impossible Bridge'.
After reading it we decided to learn about bridges - then we made bridges out of Lego, Mobilio, cardboard boxes, skewers, wood, paper, straws and ice block sticks.
Some of us then went to You Tube to find out how bridges are built and how to draw different kinds of bridges. Here are some of our suspension bridge pictures :
