Discovery Time

On Friday we read the reading book 'The Impossible Bridge'.
After reading it we decided to learn about bridges - then we made bridges out of Lego, Mobilio, cardboard boxes, skewers, wood, paper, straws and ice block sticks.

Some of us then went to You Tube to find out how bridges are built and how to draw different kinds of bridges.  Here are some of our suspension bridge pictures :

Calendar Art

This year for our calendar art Room 13 students got to choose from three pieces of art that we have been working on during Term 3 and the start of Term 4.  The sunset pictures are from when we looked at 'Cowboys', the owl pictures are from when we had Martin Waddell as our Author of the Week and we read his book 'Owl Babies' and the fish pictures were done this term after reading 'The Rainbow Fish' by Marcus Pfister - for these pictures we looked at warm and cool colours.

Here are the pictures that we chose for our individual calendar art :

Grandparents Day

Well today has been a busy day!  First thing this morning we had our grandparents visit us in class.  they got to see some of the things that we do each day at school and helped us be crafty making GROOVY glasses - this week we are looking at the 'gr' blend.

Here's some shots of our grandparents (including some honorary grandparents) in class with us - we had heaps of fun!
Then after lunch T and L came to visit us with some Peking ducklings that were only two weeks old - they were so cute and fluffy!!
Then after lunch we went for a walk down to Johnsonville Library for another visit with the lovely librarians.  What a busy first day back after a long weekend.

Turtles

In Room 13 five of us have been learning how to use the app 'I Can Animate' - thanks Miss Thompson and some of the Room 1 students for teaching us how to use it.  We looked at recreating the story 'The Smallest Turtle' by Lynley Dodd.  Here is our version of the book using 'I can Animate'.
